Monday 4pm update

Hi everybody its Kimmie..

Got a lot of information today now lets see if I can remember it all and how well it soaked in.. I bet by the time this is all over and done with I can get a medical degree just by learning all the big words they use.

As we know before Kevin has been running a fever the last couple of days. Its been at the 102 range but by today we were down to 100 even. Good job Kev!! A concern they have now is him getting Pneumonia They think he may have an infection in his lungs now causing the fever so they started him on a new antibiotic ( I think this makes #3 now) to help clear things up and they continue to suction his lungs every two hours. They have taken cultures and labs on it and those results should be back in a few days.

I spoke with his Neurosurgeon today and he stressed to me how important the next 5 to 10 days are. This is a time when he will be more prone to having a stroke or seizure due to the blood still in his head. He is being watched very carefully for this now and they say once we get past day 14 to 21 then were "outta those woods" for the most part.

Some hopeful news was that they did preform an EEG on him today and the doctor said just at the first glance of the test, he didn't see any further warning signs for a stroke or seizure but the test still had to be read by an "official EEG reader" ( my words , not his ) he wasn't worried and we should have those official test results back in a few days.

That's it for now. I'm going to pick up Maya and will post more tonight when we get back home.

With Love and Hope...

Kim

Hi Kim, we've never met, but I'm a cousin, well, maybe not even blood related, of Kevin's. I am Meg Cleary's cousin, and she posted the link for Kevin's blog. I haven't seen Kevin in years, but my heart and prayers go out to you, Kevin, and Maya. My family has been known to need serious prayer warriors in the past, and the least I can do is pray that everything goes well for you. I will continue to read the blog for updates. My best wishes and prayers go out to you, and may God be with you.
