So 6pm comes around and its time for another wake up call. Aunt Debby was with me for this one so about 5:50 we took our usual walk from the waiting room back to Kevin's room. To pull Kevin out of his medically induced coma they turn off his medicine and it usually takes about 10 minutes for him to start to wake up and start to flinch or move his good arm when someone pinches him. This time was different. Kevin's eyes were open before we even walked in the room!!!!!!! We dropped our purses and ran up to his side and saw his eyes again. He was blinking and trying to move his lips. They go through the normal routine and ask him to wiggle his toes which he did well on the left again and they ask him to show them 2 fingers, like a peace sign and every single time he only holds up 1 finger....( pretty sure he's doing this one on purpose ).. after the usual routine things wind down and they start to give him his medicine again to sedate him and we have to start whispering again...
So where does Michael Jackson come in? The medicine they are giving Kevin to sedate him while on the ventilator happens to be Propofol. The medicine they say Michael was using. Kevin and Michael Jackson both happen to have the same birthday. 08-29 When I said that out loud Kevin nodded his head yes in an up and down motion. Even the nurse chuckled. Aunt Debby and I just kinda looked at each other like "did that just happen"
So apparently my hubby responds well to some MJ... maybe next wake up call I can request some Thriller in the background
Regardless its was a good day and I cherish those now more than anything in the world.
