The 3 F's..Faith, Family, and Friends

Its seems like the last few days have been a whirlwind. I know that we've been here for over a month now and thats a long time, but it just seems like so much has happened in the last couple days and things are really really moving along so quickly, I can hardly keep up.

First things first.. As many of you already know from the pictures that Maya FINALLY got to see her Daddy!!! It was precious! She wasn't scared, she sat right up there on the bed with him and played tug of war and they played with books and teddy bears and loved on each other. It was wonderful.

We've been moved around to a different room each day for the last 3 days. ( Musical rooms..if you will..) We went from the NICU, to a room on the main Neuro ward..then to another room on the main hospital floor and I'm happy to say as of tonight we have officially landed in REHAB where we will stay!!!!! I can't believe we are finially here. Kevin passed all his evaluations and has been accepted into the Rehab Center at Bayfront where he will begin therapy first thing in the morning. I was able to help get him all settled in his room for a good nights sleep because boy does he have his work cut out for him tomorrow. I'm so excited!!! I was able to tour some of the center tonight. Its really nice with all top of the line equipment. The staff was wonderful to us. They encouraged me to bring Maya up, which we will do tomorrow..yay!! They are pretty stricked when it comes to visiting hours. I know that M-F they only allow visitors from 4pm to 8pm and its more relaxed on the weekend. This is because they literally work with them all day long. They will teach him how to get dressed again, shave and all that everyday good stuff and they will also work with him on strenght training, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. They work about 2 hours in the morning..they get a break and work another 3 hours in the afternoon. After all that visitors are welcome.

I know that alot of people have been asking about coming up for a visit. Everyone is welcome too, I just ask that you give us a few days to get into a routine and see how he holds up to all that's gonna be expected of him durring this new part of our journey..and then visit away..lol I'll let you know when we're good there.

I just have to say before I go that while this whole thing has been the hardest thing ever. I know I would not have been able to make it through this everyday without all the wonderful people in our lives. People are continuing to give..people and family members..some of whom I don't even know or never personally met are still giving. Its amazing. Just goes to show you that God is still still still providing. It just gives me chills. I believe that as long as you've got the 3 F's ..Faith, Family, and Friends...then it'll all work out in the end. And I know I've got them all covered.

Love,
Kimmie

Girlie, this is incredibly well said!! I think you nailed the importance of the 3 F's, and I am totally taking a lesson out of your book! Kevin is really something else and everyday it seems like he is surprising us and kicking butt! I am super excited to see how much attitude Kevin gives the physical therapist!!

Make sure you warn them about the finger!!

Love ya
Pamela

Well said Kimmie, Keep the faith, keep on Kevin to work hard each day to get better. I know it is a long way uphill but he is young and you are behind him pushing, nuff said about that. And you are right you have a lot of support, but most importantly, you have a lot of prayer in your corner, God has been faithful through all of this and we give him the Glory and praise for all of it.

Can not wait to go and see him, Thursday is my target date. Then he can give me the play by play of his first day of actual rehab :)

Love,

Dad

Annette, I just want to say, that I had nothing to do with the finger incident... well, okay, maybe I had a little bit to do with it. But, Pamela made me do it...hehehe.

We had so much fun with him on Saturday...can't wait for you to be go up there when I am there and see what other trouble we can get him into.

I know he is going to do awesome in rehab, and I am sure he will not use that finger too much!
